Bandai to Release Captain Phasma Action Figure
Your Very Own Captain Phasma Action Figure Is Here
With the December release of the new Star Wars: The Force Awakens movie and a plethora of new characters, it is safe to say that toy and action figure manufacturers will not run out of business anytime soon. This time, Bandai’s S.H.Figuarts has partnered up with Disney to release a figure of one of the new characters, Captain Phasma (also referred to on the SHFiguarts website as Captain Fazuma.)
Captain Phasma is one of the leaders of the First Order army and her armor design is similar to that of a Stormtrooper. However, unlike Stormtroopers, her armor is colored in a steely-silvery way, and she often wears a cape. The quality of the figure is at an astonishing level, including even the smallest details that can be found in the movie. It is made of high-quality ABS and PVC plastic and is approximately 6 inches tall (15cm).
This height might be controversial as Phasma is portrayed by Gwendoline Christie (Brienne of Tarth in Game of Thrones) giving the impression of a tall character, but its size is quite accurate when compared to other figures from the line. For reference, the Kylo Ren figure from the same series is just a tiny bit shorter, which corresponds to real life height of the characters.
Included in the box, beside the figure, are 4 extra hands, two right and two left, and a blaster rifle. This, combined with numerous joints and articulation points creates many different posing opportunities. A cloak is also included that can be removed, however as it is not made of real fiber but rather of plastic, it might create issues for those collectors who wish to make any crouching poses or something similar to that.
The figure was released on February 13th, 2016, and can be purchased online for the price of 5.616 JPY, which corresponds to $50. The website itself, however, shows a price of $70, which is still worth it considering the high quality of the Captain Phasma action figure.
